Jaye Lo video: Davido’s ally, Isreal DMW apologises to Muslims

Israel Afeare, better known as Israel DMW, Davido’s logistics manager and socialist, has expressed regret to the Muslim community for the contentious video that the singer posted on social media.

According to Platinum Times Nigeria, Davido received harsh criticism for posting the music video for his signee, Logos Olori’s latest single, “Jaye Lo,” which featured dancing and Islamic-styled prayer.

Davido removed the contentious video from his social media platforms as a result of the outrage.

The Muslim community, meanwhile, continues to call for Davido to provide a formal apology.

Israel DMW expressed his regrets on behalf of his boss in a message on his Instagram story.

Israel claimed that the film was just an attempt at amusement that was misrepresented.

He wrote: “Let me specially apologise to my Muslims brothers and sisters, on the video my oga posted, as a result of him wanting to lift up somebody, which is one of his hubbies.

“It was purely an entertainment effort wrongly presented. Make una no vex. Love you all.”

Meanwhile, Prof. Wole Soyinka, a literary giant, has urged artist Davido not to apologize for the contentious video he released on his social media accounts.

He said, “There was nothing to apologize about, and that applied equally to El Rufai’s comments at the time. It should come as no surprise that I equally absolutely disagree with Shehu Sani if indeed, as reported, he has demanded an apology from Davido on behalf of the Moslem community.”

Soyinka added that it wasn’t Davido’s music that lynched Deborah Yakubu, a second-year Christian college student who was killed by a mob of Muslim students in Sokoto last year over alleged blasphemy.
