JUST-IN: Amid TikToker’s arrest saga, Kano Hisbah CG resigns
In a surprising decision, Sheikh Aminu Ibrahim Daurawa, Commander General of the Kano State Hisbah Board, has resigned.
The prominent Kano priest revealed the startling decision on his Facebook page on Friday.
The commander, recognized for his attempts to promote morality, particularly among TikTokers, voiced irritation with the difficulties in carrying out this task.
The resignation announcement, released from Kaduna on Friday morning, coincided with Sheikh Daurawa’s attendance at a retreat organized by the Kano State House of Assembly.
The retreat centered on the development of legislation mandating medical check-ups for couples before marriage.
Sheikh Daurawa apologized to Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for his untimely departure and emphasized his commitment to the post.
The timing of the departure raises questions, particularly given Governor Yusuf’s previous criticism of the Hisbah Board’s approach to arresting suspects.
The Hisbah Board has been in the spotlight in recent days following the arrest and prosecution of Murja Kunya, a controversial female TikToker in the state.
