JUST-IN: Bandits launch fresh attack in Kaduna community, kill two, kidnap 16

On Friday night, several bandits reportedly stormed Gidan Busa in the Doka ward of Kachia Local Government Area in Kaduna State, killing two civilians and kidnapping 16.

A source who spoke on the condition of anonymity said five people were shot and are currently being treated at an unnamed medical institution in the neighborhood.

This comes after the death of Isyaku Boderia, a feared bandit suspected of masterminding multiple high-profile crimes, including the kidnapping of Yauri schoolgirls, Greenfield University, and the breach of the Nigerian Defence Academy.

The bandit kingpin, Boderi was killed by troops of 1 Division, Nigerian Army around Bada/Riyawa general area of Chikun and Igabi LGA of Kaduna State on Wednesday.

Boderi and his associates were ambushed and neutralized by military troops after a fierce gun battle.

However, on Friday night, bandits again, struck Gidan Busa, shooting indiscriminately, killing two and kidnapping at least 16 residents of the area.

The source said the incident occurred around 11:30 pm when the villagers were fast asleep.

He said in the resident of one Alhaji Hassan, no fewer than eight people were abducted with two persons killed and others sustained gunshot wounds.

He said, “Yesterday night (Friday) bandits came to Gidan Busa and abducted 16 residents of the area, killing two while five sustained gunshot injury and currently receiving treatment in the hospital.

“In the resident of one Alhaji Hassan, the bandits abducted 8 persons including his wife and children and killed one of his boys and female. The incident occurred at about 11.30pm. Those that sustained gunshot wounds are receiving treatment in the hospital.”

There was no official confirmation from either the state government or the state police command.

But when contacted on the telephone, the Kaduna State Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, ASP Mansir Hassan, told our correspondent that he was in transit and that he would reach out to the necessary authority and revert.

“I’m driving now. I will get back to you once I reach out to the Area Commander,” he said.

However, as of the time of filing the report, the police spokesman has yet to get back to our correspondent.
