JUST-IN: Emefiele finally pack out of CBN Governor’s quarters in Lagos

Godwin Emefiele, the embattled former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), is leaving the governors’ quarters in Lagos.

The Nation can confirm that Emefiele was brought to the quarters by a team led by CBN Special Investigator Jim Obazee.

The former CBN helsman is removing his personal belongings from the building on Glover Road, Ikoyi.

Following the CBN special investigator’s report, the federal government filed 14 new charges against Emefiele.

Emefiele was charged with criminal breach of trust, forgery, conspiracy to conduct forgery, procurement fraud, and conspiracy to commit a felony in the amendment.

He is facing charges of financial crimes after President Bola Tinubu terminated him from his job as CBN Governor in June 2023.

The Senate also resolved to investigate how the CBN’s N30 trillion Ways and Means loans were procured and utilized during the government of former President Muhammadu Buhari.

According to the Senate, Emefiele’s reckless expenditure of the loan acquired from the CBN was a major cause of the country’s food and security crisis.
