Just In: Gov. Yahaya Bello congratulates Natasha Akpoti on Appeal Court victory

Yahaya Bello, the governor of Kogi State, has stated that he accepts the decision of the Appeal Court upholding Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan’s election as the legitimate nominee for the Kogi Central Senatorial District.
Bello of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Bello of the All Progressives Congress (APC) thanked Akpoti-Uduaghan and all those who took part in the democratic process.
The governor urged everyone in Kogi State to accept the court’s ruling during his speech on Tuesday at the Aso Villa.
The Kogi Central Senatorial Election was held earlier in February, and Akpoti-Uduaghan was declared the legitimate winner by the Court of Appeal, Abuja Division, earlier on Tuesday.
Abubakar Ohere’s appeal was dismissed by the court due to its lack of merit.
Ohere of the APC was declared the winner of the Kogi Central Senatorial Election, but that decision was overturned in September by the Kogi State Election Petition Tribunal, which was based in Lokoja.
Additionally, the court ruled that Akpoti-Uduaghan was the legitimate victor of the Senate election in February.
Ohere had, nevertheless, gone to the appeal court to seek remedy, but the court maintained Akpoti-Uduaghan’s victory in the poll.
