JUST IN: House of Reps consider change from presidential to parliamentary system

A faction of roughly sixty members of the Federal House of Representatives is actively attempting to amend the 1999 Constitution to substitute a parliamentary form of government for the existing presidential one.

Wale Raji, a representative from Lagos State and member of the All Progressives Congress, was at the forefront of the movement to bring back the parliamentary system. The legislators listed cutting government spending and holding vigorous policy debates as some of their other justifications.
