JUST IN: Kogi LG Chairman slumps, dies, few hours to election

Hon. Muhammed Danasabe Muhammed, Chairman of Lokoja Local Government Council, has reportedly died.
He was pronounced dead at a hospital in Lokoja, the state capital, about 4.30 a.m.
Muhammed was brought to the hospital after collapsing at home.
He was believed to have attended a number of political gatherings in preparation for the governorship race on Saturday.
According to a family source, he was brought to Shifa Hospital in Lokoja shortly after collapsing in the house in the late hours of Thursday.
“Doctors confirmed him clinically dead around 4.30 a.m. on Friday,” a family member who requested anonymity said.
The deceased was from Lokoja’s Ward B in the cantonment area.
On Friday, following Juma’at prayer, he will be buried at the Unguwan Kura Muslim cemetery.
On Friday morning, sympathizers were allegedly spotted flocking into his family house in Lokoja’s cantonment regions to console the family over his untimely death.
His mother, wife, and children survive him.
