JUST-IN: NARTO calls-off planned nationwide strike
NARTO members had threatened shutdown all over the country beginning Monday over the high cost of Automotive Gas Oil also known as diesel.
The Nigerian Association of Road Transport Owners (NARTO) has called off its planned Nationwide strike.
Following a meeting with the Federal Government and stakeholders on Monday, tanker drivers paused operations and stopped lifting petroleum products due to tough economic realities.
NARTO members had threatened a nationwide shutdown beginning Monday due to the high cost of Automotive Gas Oil, popularly known as diesel, which is required to power their vehicles for the transportation of petroleum products throughout Nigeria.
Like Premium Motor Spirit, also known as petrol, which now sells for more than N600 per litre, diesel prices have risen in recent months, owing to the country’s financial problem. Diesel currently sells for more than N1,250 a litre in Nigeria.
