Just In: NPF to investigate Mohbad’s death

The Nigerian Police Force (NPF) has stated that it will conduct a thorough inquiry into the death of late musician Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, also known as Mohbad.

The Police confirmed this on Thursday in a post on X (previously Twitter), while also expressing heartfelt condolences to Mohbad’s family, friends, and fans, who unfortunately died on Tuesday, September 12, 2023.

“We understand the concerns surrounding his untimely demise and the various speculations that have arisen,” the police said.

“The Nigeria Police Force is committed to a comprehensive investigation into this matter, as the Lagos State Commissioner of Police has been tasked to unravel the circumstances surrounding his death.

“Rest assured, updates will be provided as investigations unfold.”

The Police has also encouraged family members or close associates of the late Afrobeats musician with valuable information to approach the Lagos State Commissioner of Police to assist in this process.

“In the meantime, we kindly request that individuals refrain from making statements or engaging in activities that could jeopardize the ongoing investigation. Your trust and support are deeply valued,” the Police wrote.

The death of Mohbad has sparked outrage on social media, with some condemning his previous record company, Marlian Records, and its owner, Naira Marley, as well as Sam Larry.

It was revealed on X that Mohbad genuinely reported the Sam Larry-led assault and threat to his life in a letter dated June 27, 2023.
