Just In: Tribunal reserves judgment in Obi’s petition against Tinubu

The case that Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s (LP) presidential candidate, submitted to contest President Bola Tinubu’s election victory on February 25 has been placed on hold by the presidential Election Petitions Tribunal.

Tinubu had been named the election’s victor by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), but Obi disagreed and went to the tribunal.

Tinubu was declared ineligible to run for office by Obi and Datti Baba Ahmed in their final written statement, dated July 20.

However, a five-judge panel headed by Justice Haruna Tsammani announced that the decision’s date will be announced.

Chimamanda Adichie, a well-known novelist and academic, joined Obi and Datti in court.

Earlier, the court postponed making a decision on Atiku Abubakar’s appeal as the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) presidential candidate.
