Just In: Veteran singer John Oboh (Mighty Mouse) is dead

The famed music producer who invented the Ajegunle rhythm in the 1990s, John Oboh, often known as ‘Mighty Mouse,’ has died.

He died Thursday, September 18, in Lagos, after battling a cancer-like disease.

Vanguard was informed of his death by a family member.

Attempts to reach Mighty Mouse’s sister, Mabel Oboh, for comment have proved futile.

Mabel Oboh, ADC’s National Publicity Secretary; Peter Oboh, former British and Commonwealth Light Heavyweight boxing champion; and Chief Josephine Oboh-Macleod, renowned art collector, curator, and philanthropist are among late John’s siblings.

Mighty Mouse is Ajegunle City’s music godfather. He invented what is today known and recognized as Galala music.
