Kaduna: Bandits evict villagers from ancestral homes for failing to pay taxes
Following a bandit invasion in Kidandan community, Giwa Local Government Area, Kaduna State, a large number of residents have fled their ancestral houses.
The robbers allegedly spent hours shooting intermittently, murdering some residents of the community before kidnapping a number of them.
According to one story, the robbers turned hostile when the farmers failed to pay previously imposed taxes.
The Kidandan incident comes just a few days after an Army Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) bombed civilians in Tudun Biri village, Igabi Local Government Area, Kaduna State.
The source said:
“For the past six days, bandits have been coming to Kidandan. These attacks were devastating. They came, terrified us, stole, and abducted our people. Every resident in Kidandan lives in extreme fear.”
He further explained that the women and children are leaving in droves, saying that a large number of those who embarked on the exodus are moving for safety.
The Kaduna State Police Command is yet to react to the incident.
