Kano Appeal Court verdict: NNPP chieftain petitions NJC

Comrade Olufemi Ajadi, a New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) chieftain, has petitioned the National Judicial Council (NJC) against the Court of Appeal’s decision on the Kano State governorship election.

In a petition to the NJC, Ajadi urged the Council to look into the controversies surrounding the judgment.

According to Platinum Times, the court upheld the removal of Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf from office.

However, Ajadi stated in the petition made available to Platinum Times on Thursday that the investigation is necessary because a paragraph in one of the pages of the Certified True Copy (CTC) of the Appeal Court judgement indicated victory for Yusuf despite the court’s announcement on Friday favoring APC’s Nasiru Gawuna.

The NNPP chieftain demanded that the NJC clarify the situation.

The NNPP chieftain enjoined the NJC to clarify the matter.

He noted that the investigation has become necessary so as to ensure that the truth is not swept under the carpet.

He said, “Kano is sitting perilously on a keg of gunpowder. The Appeal Court read a statement that favours the APC candidate but the Certified True Copy showed that Governor Abba Yusuf won his appeal. What is going on in Nigeria?

“Nigerians have lost faith in the judiciary system but NNPP will not give up.

“I hereby call on the National Judicial Council to thoroughly investigate this matter and ensure that only the truth is revealed.”
