(Kogi) 6-year-old boy buried alive for stealing N1,000

On Tuesday, October 10, 2023, in Lokoja, the capital of Kogi State, pure depravity was on show when six-year-old Friday Oshodi was buried alive for stealing N1,000, which, according to the current parallel market currency rate, is equal to one US Dollar.

The event allegedly took place in Lokoja’s Apamisede Community, adjacent to the Megumeri Army Barracks, where the poor youngster was allegedly buried alive by his biological brother in a woody location.

According to a witness statement, the mother of the youngster was furious when she learned that his youngest son had stolen the last N1,000 she owned.

She is alleged to have ordered her eldest son to spank the youngster for stealing the N1,000 in a fit of wrath, stating that she would over-flog the boy given her current state of mind.

In carrying out his mother’s instructions, the older brother, Goodness Oshodi, is claimed to have dragged the boy to a bush, dug a hole, and buried the boy alive before returning home.

However, it was stated that luck was on the defenseless boy’s side when his cries for assistance attracted some men who had gone to the bush to urinate. According to reports, they quickly saved the boy and transported him home.

The elder brother, who is believed to be around 18 years old, was questioned by the boy’s rescuers about why he did such a horrific thing to his own biological brother. In a video made accessible to newsmen, he was heard pleading for mercy and claiming that the devil had pushed him.

He responded in the affirmative when asked if his mother was aware of the punishment he ultimately meted out to his sibling.

However, when reached, Willy Aya, the police public relations officer, verified the event and stated the suspect had been taken into custody and was being questioned.

The victim, according to the police spokesman, took some household things, fled the house for almost two months, and then returned yesterday to steal another N10,000, prompting the mother to tell the oldest son to punish the youngster.

According to the police spokesman, N10,000 was stolen rather than N1,000, despite the older brother’s admission in the viral video that his younger sibling truly stole N1,000 to merit the exceptional punishment.
