Kogi Guber: Police withdraws personnel from following VIPs to polling units

The Nigeria Police Force has prohibited all security professionals from accompanying very important individuals (VIPs) to polling stations as 1,833,160 voters in Kogi State go to the polls this Saturday.
In a statement issued on Friday, the Kogi State Police Public Relations Officer, SP William Ovye Aya, quoted the Deputy Inspector-General of Police in charge of Kogi State on the governorship election, DIG Habu Sani, as saying that no security personnel attached to VIPs, political and public officers, or any personalities across the state should move or escort their principals during the period of vehicular movement restrictions.
The notification warned that any officer who violated the order will be detained and prosecuted.
“The DIG appeals to VIPs, political and public officers, to note this order so as to avoid any embarrassment that might befall them. The police and other security agencies will not allow any security breach during the period of the election,” the statement added.
