Kogi Police issues warnings to residents over disappearance of male genitals
The Kogi State Police Command has advised residents not to take the law into their own hands.
This comes in the wake of rising reports of suspected ritualists stealing male organs in the Confluence State.
Platinum Times has learned that in the previous week, some suspected ritualists were detained in Kogi State, particularly in the state capital Lokoja, for allegedly snatching male parts from their victims.
However, in a statement issued on Wednesday in response to this event, the Kogi State Police people Relations Officer, SP William Ovye Aya, urged the general people to remain quiet, emphasizing that anyone caught disturbing the public peace would be prosecuted.
While quoting the Kogi State Commissioner of Police, CP Bethrand Onuoha, who called on residents of Lokoja and its environs to stop peddling fake and false information about the disappearance of male organs, which is currently trending in Lokoja, the statement went on to say that some of the allegations have been investigated by the police and medical examinations have also been conducted, which turned out to be false.
The statement reads in part,
“The false information has the sole aim of inciting public disturbance, creating fear and disrupting the peaceful environment the state is currently enjoying.
“The police are planning sterner measures to curtain false reports in the state. Anyone caught giving false information will be prosecuted according to the law.
“Furthermore, the Commissioner of Police sternly warns members of the public to desist from taking the law into their hands by carrying out jungle justice.
“To this end, the Commissioner of Police enjoins the good people of Kogi State to remain security conscious and report anything that looks suspicious in their areas to the police.”
