Kwara govt grants refund of N184m to 2,300 pilgrims
Kwara State Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq has granted a N184 million refund for 2,300 pilgrims who made the annual holy journey to Saudi Arabia.
The funds are intended to cover the return of overpayments made by the 2,300 pilgrims who paid N3 million as Hajj fares for the just completed pilgrimage.
The refund process for the pilgrims has already started, according to the Kwara State Muslim Pilgrims’ Welfare Board in Ilorin.
Both Kwarans and non-Kwarans are among the beneficiaries, who span the state’s 16 local government areas.
Alhaji Abdulsalam Abdulkadir, the executive secretary of the Muslim Pilgrims’ Welfare Board, expressed gratitude to the state government for the prompt transfer of the funds in a statement in Ilorin.
He asked every pilgrim in question to bring their original receipts in order to receive their N80,000 reimbursement.
The Executive Secretary further stated that until each and every one of the impacted pilgrims had received their full refund, which started on Monday, September 11, payment of the refund would continue.
