Labour strike grounds academic activities at BUK
The administration of Bayero University in Kano State has suspended all academic operations till further notice, including the present 2022/2023 first semester undergraduate examinations.
Mrs Amina Abdullahi, the institution’s interim Registrar, stated this in a statement made available the media on Tuesday night.
The suspension followed a statewide strike by the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, and Trade Union Congress, TUC, and a subsequent decision by university unions to join the walkout, according to the statement.
It did, however, warn all students to remain calm and wait for further instructions from management.
“It should be noted that the ongoing examinations are halfway through, and as soon as the strike is over, the examinations will continue,” the statement concluded.
