A late-night fire outbreak on Tuesday in Kano State’s Kumbotso local government area destroyed 40 establishments worth millions of naira in total.
The 40 businesses were part of a large commercial shopping complex in Kano.
According to eyewitness accounts, the flames destroyed around 40 shops in the business premises close to Zawaciki Housing Estate.
Another eyewitness, Musa Ahmad, told journalists that the shops hit included food stores, cement shops, PoS outlets, and many more.
The roaring fire was extinguished only after the State Fire Service worked along with three water trucks.
Saminu Abdullah, Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Kano State Fire Service, verified the occurrence but requested additional time to conduct an investigation in order to provide more information.
