Man electrocuted to death while working on billboard in Delta

On Thursday, a man merely identified as Calabar, an Immaculate Hotel employee, was electrocuted while repairing the hotel’s billboard.

The disaster occurred at the hotel at Vanguard Junction, Okpanam, which is opposite the airport in Delta State’s Oshimili North Local Government Area.

According to Platinum Times, the victim was electrocuted while climbing a ladder to repair a damaged billboard.

According to an unidentified source in the region, the dead climbed up the ladder and mistakenly touched the 33KVA high-tension pole just as electricity was restored.

The hotel worker’s body has subsequently been put at the mortuary, and sympathisers have gathered in the neighborhood to see what happens next.

“He is from Calabar and works at the Immaculate Hotel. We’ve known him as a hotel employee for years, until the sad incident on Thursday afternoon,” an unnamed source told our correspondent.

Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, Bright Edafe, confirmed the occurrence and stated that the Okpanam Police Station was already handling the issue.

“The owner of the hotel is still giving statements. Let me do further findings, you will get full details later, ” Edafe said.
