Lt. Col. Abubakar-Surajo Imam was promoted to Professor of Mechatronics Engineering at the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) Kaduna on Friday.
Imam is considered to be the first professor among serving members in the Nigerian Army’s history.
Brig.-Gen. AM Tukur, the Academy’s Registrar, announced the elevation in a statement issued on Friday in Kaduna State.
According to him, the elevation was approved at the NDA Council Meeting in September and would go into effect on October 1, 2023.
The registrar stated that the council’s decision reflected the Academy’s confidence in and recognition of Imam’s contributions to the Department of Mechatronics Engineering.
He stated that the new professor had offered exceptional services and upheld the desired degree of competence in his specialty.
“This recognition not only honours Professor Imam but also highlights the commitment of the Nigerian Defence Academy to acknowledging and rewarding outstanding contributions within its academic community,” he added.
