Ministerial Screening: Abbas Balarabe slumps on stage, rushed to hospital

Abbas Balarabe of Kaduna State, a Ministerial nominee, fainted in the Senate on Wednesday while describing his profile.

He was the second person to be tested for confirmation, but he passed out quickly after taking turns being screened by parliamentarians.

The Sergeant-At-Arms immediately ordered journalists out of the Chambers when he fainted.

Senator Ishaku Abbo of Adamawa North hurried him to the National Assembly Clinic to seek medical assistance.

As he could not be revived to walk on his own, a wheelchair was promptly rushed to the Chamber.

The nominee succeeded Malam Nasir El-Rufai, the former governor of Kaduna State, who was denied confirmation due to security concerns.
