Misconduct: PSC dismisses three senior officers
Three senior police officers have been fired due to wrongdoing, according to the Police Service Commission, or PSC.
In a statement released on Friday, Ikechukwu Ani, Head of Press and Public Relations, said the commission also authorized the rank reduction of five additional individuals who were deemed inadequate in the performance of their official duties.
Two Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs) and one Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) were among the terminated police officers, according to him.
He added that fourteen officers received severe reprimands, six others were reprimanded, and seven others were issued warning letters. He said one Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP), one Superintendent (SP), one Deputy Superintendent (DSP), and two Assistant Superintendents of Police (ASP) were demoted for misconduct.
According to him, the panel also brought back six discharged policemen who had won favorable court rulings or had their cases reviewed.
