On Monday, a total of 1,395 students took the e-based Entrance Examination for Oyo State Model Smart School for the academic year 23/24.
At the Smart School in Sogunro, Akinyele Local Government Area, Ibadan, the students were assessed in English, Mathematics, and General Knowledge.
According to Platinum Times, SUBEB Executive Secretary Jacob Dairo indicated that the procedure was seamless and error-free in the center, however 796 candidates were rejected due to double entry. Mr. Dairo went on to say that the turnout was really amazing.
The Executive Secretary further stated that the students did not write paper-based exams but were instead given tablets. Dairo went on to say that because the Model Smart School is computer-based, paper-pencil testing is not permitted.
According to the Executive Secretary, the Oyo State Government intends to incorporate technology-driven inclusivity into basic and junior secondary education at the model smart school.
“The administration of Governor Seyi Makinde has prioritized basic education.”
“I thank the Governor on behalf of stakeholders in the basic education sector for allocating a sizable budget to address infrastructural deficiencies and an upgrade of our learning process through the model smart school,” he said.
The Executive Secretary advised parents/guardians to expose their children/wards to technology, noting that the new school wants to incorporate various educational apps that would boost innovation, creativity, and abilities.
He also urged parents in the state to teach their children how to use computers, which would enhance e-learning.
Dairo also praised the Akinyele Local Government Area leadership and the Oyo State security outfit, Operation Burst, for their assistance in safeguarding the school.
Mrs. Olaide Ladipo, Director, Standard and Quality Assurance, oversaw the test, which was supported by officials from the Universal Basic Education Commission, UBEC, and Oyo State Universal Basic Education.
