Mosun Nkanga evicts step-children from family house

The family home in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, has been evacuated by Mosun Nkanga, the wife of Idongesit Nkanga, a former military governor of Akwa Ibom State, SaharaReporters learned on Thursday.

Ini Idara Nkanga, Lance Nkanga, Utibeabasi Nkanga, and Etietop Nkanga were all ejected by Mosun from the five-bedroom duplex residence at No. 3B, Mary Slessor Close, off Udo Udoma, off Yakubu Gowon Road, Asokoro, Abuja, according to SaharaReporters.

This was in response to an order of the High Court of Abuja, which on March 24, 2022, issued a warrant for the possession of the five-bedroom duplex apartment in the estate of her late husband.

The kids were shown stuck outside the flat with their belongings and bags tossed out in a video that SaharaReporters was able to obtain on Thursday.

To set aside the current orders granting Mosun the right to evict her stepchildren from the contested apartment, the four aggrieved children and their mother filed a court document on Thursday with the FCT High Court through their attorney, Mr. Inibehe Effiong. In the document, it was asserted that Mr. Nkanga had left the house to all six of his surviving children as a family home.

In December 2020, Mr. Nkanga, a retired air commodore, passed away from COVID-19.

It was also revealed that the late Nkanga had said that Mrs. Mosun should receive the flat back when his last child, Ini Idara, turned 30.

Mr. Effiong, however, asserted that Mr. Ini-Idara was 25 years old and that Mrs. Mosun did not own the building’s sole rights until Ini Idara reached the age of 30, as specified in the will.
