An unidentified mother of three young children reportedly committed suicide in Enugu state.
The woman allegedly ran into a moving vehicle and died instantaneously when her husband left her and their three children due to financial troubles.
The incident occurred last weekend in front of the Ogui Police Station in Enugu.
According to accounts, the deceased, whose name is unknown, suffered from depression. She dropped off her three small children at the police station, stripped naked, and dashed into a moving vehicle, crushing her to death.
When interrogated, the eldest of the children stated that their father “got lost.”
“She could not give any other information about their family, town, or residential address”, a police source told the Nation.
Meanwhile, Mrs Nkechinyere Mbah, the wife of Enugu State governor, has announced the sponsorship of a scholarship for three siblings (under the age of seven) who lost their parents in strange circumstances.
The Governor’s wife revealed the scholarship during an unplanned visit to Enugu’s Ogui Police Station, where the children were being held in custody.
Mrs Mbah, moved by the harrowing account of the children’s mother’s death, promised to care for and educate the children from nursery school to university.
