Nasarawa S’Court Verdict: Ombugadu calls for calm amid protests

David Ombugadu, the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) flagbearer, has issued a call for peace among his supporters.
This follows the Supreme Court’s verdict, which reaffirmed Governor Abdullahi Sule’s victory in the Nasarawa State gubernatorial election on March 18, 2023.
Following reports of PDP supporters protesting in the state capital, Lafia, earlier on Friday, Ombugadu issued a statement on Friday night thanking his supporters and urged them to be peaceful and united.
Ombugadu praised the consistent support he received during the election campaign and following court fights.
He expressed disappointment with the outcome, but praised his supporters’ perseverance and commitment throughout the difficult period.
“While the outcome may not have been what we had hoped for, the strength and dedication displayed by you and countless others during this period have not gone unnoticed.
“Your commitment to the principles of democracy, justice, and the ideals we hold dear has been truly inspiring,” the statement read.
Ombugadu stated the need to uphold shared values and dedication to the betterment of Nasarawa State.
He expressed gratitude for the trust and belief placed in him and acknowledged the collective efforts of his supporters.
“As we navigate the path forward, let us continue to uphold the spirit of unity and resilience that defines our state and country in general.
“Together, we can contribute to the progress and development of Nasarawa State, irrespective of the challenges we may face,” Ombugadu urged.
He further thanked his supporters for their unwavering commitment, stating that their collective efforts would contribute to making a positive difference.
Ombugadu expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve the people of Nasarawa State and anticipated continued collaboration for a brighter future.
