Nasty C counters Wizkid, says: ‘Hip-hop will never die’

Nasty C, a South African rapper, has stated that hip-hop may have taken a back seat in mainstream music, but it will never die.

The ‘Coolest Kid In Africa’ singer made the statement in response to a recent dispute prompted by Nigerian Afrobeats musician Wizkid’s remark that “hip-hop is dead.”

Speaking in an interview with Glich Africa, Nasty C said,

“I don’t think rap or hip-hop will ever die, man. It’s more than just music. It’s more than just a sound. It’s a way of life; it’s a culture.

“It might take the backseat, you know what I mean. Fresh sounds are very important to keep the culture alive. You know what I mean? As Africans we are very diverse, man. We’ve all these different sounds that we need to take out to the world so that they understand that we are super talented. So, hip-hop will take the backseat for a little bit but it will never die. Trust me.”
