Niger coup: NIS personnel to mount illegal routes

According to the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), in response to the crisis in the Niger Republic, officials have been sent out to inspect all unusual routes that foreigners would likely use to enter the country.

At a joint celebration with the state’s command to mark the service’s 60th anniversary, Mr. Mustapha Sani, the NIS Comptroller in charge of Jibia command in Katsina State, revealed this.

According to Sani, due to the current circumstances, the borders have been blocked and there are restrictions on where one can travel.

He said,

“NIS has deployed its personnel to mount all the unorthodox roads through which some of the foreigners may likely infiltrate.

“You know Katsina and Niger republic. We are a homogeneous society, with the same language, religion and culture, but we have a colonial boundary which we must respect.”

Speaking to the officers and members of the command, Sani added that Nigerian passports are among the best in the world and that the service had evolved into modern immigration.
