According to reports, there are allegedly 22 private colleges of health in Niger State that are unregistered and fraudulent.
Abdullahi Mammagi, the State Commissioner for Tertiary Education, made this statement at a news conference that took place at Government House Minna’s news Gallery this past weekend after the Executive Council.
Mammagi also disclosed that the bulk of the 34 properly registered health facilities spread around the state were purportedly involved in fraudulent activities by providing unaccredited courses.
He brought up the continuing legal dispute between the Ministry and the owner of a private health college, who was charged with stealing and replicating the registration certificate from another institution in order to start his own college.
The Commissioner clarified, however, that a taskforce including important players in Niger State’s education sector has been established by the Ministry in an attempt to address the issue of the spread of fraudulent Private Health institutions in the state.
In a related event, owners of homes constructed on school property or sharing a fence with a school in some sections of the state have been ordered to evacuate those buildings by the state’s Commissioner for Lands and Survey, Barr. Maurice Magaji.
He noted that the goal of the decision was to establish a favorable environment for education throughout the state. He also mentioned that, due to the ongoing insecurity issues plaguing the area, plans were in place to move the Government Science Secondary School Kagara boarding school from Rafi Local Government Area to the state capital, Minna.
