Nigeria’s insecurity level will decrease by 50%, if poverty is eliminated – Betta Edu
Nigeria’s level of insecurity will decrease by 50%, according to Betta Edu, Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, if poverty is eliminated.
She revealed this in Abuja when she paid Air Marshall Hassan Abubakar a courtesy visit to ask for his help in getting relief supplies to difficult-to-reach areas of Nigeria via the Nigerian Air Force.
She pointed out that insecurity is greatly facilitated by poverty on a national level.
According to Edu, removing many displaced people from poverty will significantly lessen the threat of insecurity.
“When we win the war against poverty, we would have won the war against insecurity by over 50 per cent. Please, fly us to those hard-to-reach areas,” she said.
On his part, Abubakar assured the minister of his support.
“Your presence here underscores our shared commitment to the well-being of our fellow citizens during their most trying times,” he said.
