‘No Gree for Anybody’ dangerous, intended to cause anarchy – Police issues warnings on 2024 slogan

The Nigeria Police Force has issued a warning, stating that the popular young motto for 2024, “no gree for anybody,” is the result of a revolutionary movement that might destabilize the entire nation.

During a press briefing on Wednesday, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, a spokesperson for the Force police, stated that the police had received intelligence indicating the slogan’s intention to incite a revolution in the nation.

Mr Adejobi said,

“Let me say it again that the new slogan for 2024, “No gree for anybody.” We have been informed by intelligence that this slogan is coming from a revolutionary sector that may likely cause problems across the country.

“No gree for anybody’’ is being seen as a normal talk but in the security community we have seen it as a very dangerous slogan that can trigger crisis.’’

“No gree for anybody,” a slogan in pidgin parlance loosely meaning hardiness or pig-headedness adopted by youths on social media for 2024, is trending as young Nigerians, including celebrities and brands jump on it.

There have previously been popular catchphrases on the country’s social media platforms that have been influenced by political, social, musical, and economic changes. “Cut soap for me” and “shege” were a couple of the catchphrases.
