Tears flowed freely on Wednesday as Olabode Olawuyi, a zookeeper at Obafemi Awolowo University in Ile-Ife, Osun State, was buried.
He was killed by a lioness while attempting to save an attacked subordinate during the animal’s meal.

On February 19, Olawuyi was killed in the OAU zoological garden by the nine-year-old lioness he nursed from a cub. The lioness also injured her female counterpart, Mrs Ajeigbe.
He was interred at the OAU burial cemetery following a funeral service at the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), cemetery, Kings Court, OAU Religious Centre.
His wife, children, family relatives, and OAU personnel and colleagues all attended the interment.
