David Akinremi, the Amotekun Corps commander in Ogun State, has reportedly passed away.
According to a Vanguard news story, “Akinremi, a retired Commissioner of Police, was said to have died on Monday evening.”
According to the newspaper, Akinremi “had been nursing an undisclosed illness for quite some time until he breathed his last on Monday,” according to information received.
In 2021, Governor Dapo Abiodun named Akinremi as the founding Commander of the newly formed Amotekun Corps.
According to the newspaper, “The Amotekun Corps under his watch, worked with other security agents in their efforts to rid the State of crimes.”
It cited Soji Ganzallo, Commander of the So-Safe Corps, who confirmed Akinremi’s death and called it “a rude shock” in the report.
