Ogun Senator aide shot dead at checkpoint in Lagos
Adeniyi Sanni, a key aide to Solomon Adeola, the senator from Ogun West, was fatally shot in Lagos.
Sanni was killed on Saturday as he traveled to his home in the Isheri region of the state.
The deceased’s body was discovered on Saturday morning with gunshot wounds at a Toyota bus stop in the Oshodi neighborhood of Lagos State, according to a statement made in Abuja by the senator’s spokesperson, Kayode Odunaro.
It was made known that Sanni was stopped at a checkpoint by security personnel in the Berger area of the state, he explained that Sanni had earlier called his wife to ask for the details of his car papers.
“The wife became troubled when she could no longer reach him on the phone after she sent all the documents to his phone’s WhatsApp.
“His apprehensive wife later called on Sanni’s associates to say she could no longer reach her husband on the phone necessitating the mobilisation of a search party.
“She was later called through the Next of Kin contact on her husband’s driving licence by passersby that the body of Sanni was dumped around Toyota Bus Stop in Oshodi with gunshot wounds.
“Senator Adeola who is involved in the ongoing ministerial nominees screening at the Senate is devastated by the sad news, as Sanni was his close aide for over two decades.
“The Nigeria Police Force is investigating the killing”, the statement stated.
