Ondo APC crisis: PDP break silence on Tinubu’s intervention, calls it mere window dressing

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, chapter in Ondo State has dismissed President Bola Tinubu’s intervention in the conflict involving Governor Rotimi Akeredolu and his deputy, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, as mere window dressing.
The PDP said that the political issue was not resolved because Akeredolu “remains in hiding.”
The party’s spokesman, Kennedy Peretei, made the statement after Tinubu invited Aiyedatiwa and other interested parties to the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
The gathering attempted to end the state’s political strife in the aftermath of Akeredolu’s absence.
During the meeting, Tinubu asked for a truce while ensuring that the impeachment issue was resolved.
In response, Peretei stated that the internal party squabble was having an impact on state governance.
He bemoaned the waste of taxpayers’ money on what he called pointless travels to Abuja.
Peretei said:
“Let us pray that the presidential intervention will not go the way of the Bello Masari Reconciliation Committee set up by APC National Chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje.
“After several trips to Abuja at taxpayers’ expense, both parties returned to court despite promises to withdraw all cases.
“From what we have read about the outcome, Tinubu’s intervention is a mere window dressing.
“Out of respect for his office, the impeachment of the deputy governor will no longer see daylight, but as long as Akeredolu remains in hiding, it is not yet Uhuru, the cat and mouse race will still continue. The siege is not yet over.”
