Osun: Amotekun nabs serial burglary thief
A man Akeem Afeez has detained by Osun Amotekun Corps agents for burglary and theft.
Afeez, 25, a native of Ede, Osun State, was detained at a business in the state’s Oogi town, Ayedaade local government area.
The 25-year-old suspect, who is from Ede in Osun State, was apprehended for breaking into and robbing a business in Oogi Town, Ayedaade Local Government Area.
The Osun Amotekun Commander, Brigadier General Bashir Adewinmbi, confirmed the arrest in a statement in Osogbo and said that the suspect was detained following a complaint made to the Irewole Area Command.
Adewinmbi added that the Amotekun agents sprang into action and managed to capture him right away.
“The suspect was arrested at Oogi where he burgled and stole from Afripower Company Nig. Ltd., Oogi Town in Ayedaade LG of Osun State.
“An earlier complaint had been lodged at the Irewole Area Command of Osun Amotekun on the nefarious activities of the suspect, and the operatives had been on the lookout.
“Upon getting a signal on this recent activity, the operatives swung into action and were able to apprehend the culprit.
“In the course of the interrogation, the suspect confessed to committing the act, saying it was not his first time of burgling and that he normally sells such items.
“The items found on him are an electric motor, a vibrator, 1 pumping machine, long-length cable wire, and 13 pieces of tap cap,” Adewinmbi said.
The suspect has been handed over to the Nigeria Police for subsequent interrogation and prosecution.
