Osun govt set to begin recruitment of teachers into public schools

The government of Osun State has declared that it will begin recruitment of teachers for its public schools.

At a news conference on Friday in Osogbo, the commissioner for education, Dipo Eluwole, made this announcement.

Additionally, the state government requested that the 1,509 teachers who had been hired by the Adegboyega Oyetola administration but had their employment suspended by Governor Ademola Adeleke, reapply.

The Commissioner assured the State’s citizens that suitable teachers would be hired to teach at all levels of education throughout the State, but he also made it clear that the hiring process would not be treated lightly.

Only qualified candidates, he insisted, would be hired.

He stated that the administration was attempting to reestablish Osun’s education quality and expressed his concern over its rapid change.

“There is a drastic change in the education system in Osun, we are working towards positioning it, may God help us.

“We are going to organise the State 2023 Educational Summit so as to discuss and address the factors affecting the state of education in Osun. Everything that will be discussed at the summit will be looked into critically.

“I want to tell you that those that were employed by the last administration and eased out when this administration took over are going to apply afresh like others and I want to assure you that only those that are qualified as teachers by discipline are the ones that are going to be considered because when we say we are re-training the teachers, it is easier for the government to train those that have been in that line. Only the experts are going to be taken for teaching in Osun.

“I want to assure you that those that are going to be employed are going to be employed both at the primary and secondary levels. They are going to be qualified teachers, we are going to take it seriously.”
