PDP summons Ex Senate President Wabara to face disciplinary committee
Former Senate President Senator Adolphus Wabara will almost certainly face a disciplinary committee set up by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Abia State to explain certain recent utterances attributed to him by the media.
According to Abraham Amah, Vice Chairman and Acting Publicity Secretary of the Abia PDP, the committee will be inaugurated following the party’s State Working Committee (SWC) meeting.
Amah, who stated this during a live broadcast on Flo 94.9 FM in Umuahia, stated that Wabara, who is currently the acting chairman of the PDP Board of Trustees (BoT), must take the occasion to apologize to the party for making utterances that could cause ‘collateral damage’ to the PDP’s reputation.
The PDP Vice Chairman stated that the former Senate President was free to make personal views on government in the state and the country at large, but that such expression should not harm the party.
“In a few days’ time, the State Working Committee is meeting; in that meeting, we are setting up a disciplinary committee. He has to face the disciplinary committee,” Amah vowed.
He further stated that Wabara will be pardoned by the party only if he apologized to the disciplinary committee for his alleged unguarded statements.
According to him, the former Senate President’s assertion that he was misquoted by the media was unacceptable to the Abia PDP till he stood before the disciplinary committee to explain himself and apologize.
The Abia PDP recently published a statement in which it denied the claimed endorsement of Governor Alex Otti for a second term by the former Senate President.
In response to the Abia State government’s recent decision that the Lokpanta Cattle Market in Umuchieze, Umunnochi LGA, function as a daily market, Abraham Amah praised Governor Alex Otti for taking the initiative. He did, however, add that the previous PDP administration of Okezie Ikpeazu should be recognized for introducing the daily market pattern.
He also encouraged Governor Alex Otti to hold local government elections in the 17 LGAs rather than selecting council mayors, as has been reported in the media.
