Police apprehend two gang members who murdered personnel in Anambra, rescue abducted victim
The Anambra State Police Command has stated to have apprehended two members of a gang responsible for the deaths of two police officers on December 29, 2023.
The State Police Commissioner, CP Aderemi Adeoye, told reporters in Awka on Monday that the gang members were neutralized during a Sunday raid on their camp in Ogboji, Orumba South Local Government Area.
A 51-year-old victim was rescued, and a Lexus Sports Utility Vehicle was retrieved, according to him.
He also stated that four Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), two pump action weapons, and 16 live cartridges were discovered.
He said that the IEDs had been defused.
The manhunt for the assailants and all criminal elements in the state, according to Adeoye, will continue.
He reaffirmed the command’s intention to protect everyone’s safety and advised residents and tourists to go about their legitimate business without fear.
