Police nabs five over alleged disruption of NANS convention in Abuja

Haruna Garba, the commissioner of police for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has warned against any type of public order disturbance, unlawful assembly, or criminal infiltration of legitimate assembly in the nation’s capital.
Garba issued the warning on Wednesday, December 6, while confirming the arrest of five suspects in connection with the attempted infiltration of the November 30 NANS conference.
The suspects were quickly apprehended by security personnel, and some of them were turned over to police by the Department of State Services (DSS).
Adeniran Femi, Ishaya Christopher, Obigi Emeka, Fatokun Ayodele, and Abdullahi Saliu are the suspects.
A pump action gun, one locally made double barrel shotgun, two locally made pistols, one baretta pistol, fifteen (15) live ammunition, cartridges, an axe, twelve (12) cutlasses, mobile phones, a bag containing uniforms of security agencies, and a Mazda car with Reg No. RBC909DP containing some of the exhibits were recovered from the suspects.
According to a statement made by the FCT police public relations officer, SP Josephine Adeh, the investigation is being expanded while efforts to apprehend other individuals who remain at large continue.
Adeh stated the suspects would be charged in court after investigations were completed.
Meanwhile, the CP has assured citizens of the command’s unwavering commitment to maintaining and protecting public order, safety, and security in the FCT.
