Private aircraft carrying VIPs crash-lands in Ibadan

A private jet having about 10 individuals onboard including Very Important Personalities (VIPs) has crash-landed in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.
According to a reliable source, the jet crashed on Friday about 11 a.m. at Samuel Ladoke Akintola Airport.
The plane with the registration number N580KR veered off the runway and into the neighboring woods.
Firefighters and rescue personnel from the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) were quickly dispatched to the incident. However, no deaths or casualties were documented.
“It was a private flight from Abuja. It landed safely but went over the runway. There were no casualties,” Carol Adekotujo, a spokesperson for the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), informed our correspondent over the phone.
When contacted, Tunji Oketunmbi, a spokesman for the Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau, stated that he would respond, but has yet to do so as of press time.
Despite the dismissal and change of aviation agency chiefs in recent months, the number of aviation incidents has remained worrying. Adebayo Adelabu, Minister of Power, narrowly avoided death in November when a jet carrying him crashed at the same airport.
