Rhodes-Vivour vs Sanwo-Olu: Anxiety as Appeal Court delivers judgement today

The Court of Appeal in Lagos will rule on the appeal filed by the Labour Party’s governorship candidate, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, and his Peoples Democratic Party counterpart, Abdulazeez Olajide Adediran, challenging Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s re-election today Wednesday, November 15.

The court informed the parties in the appeal that the decision would be issued at 3 p.m.

According to Platinum Times, the Lagos Governorship Election Petition Tribunal dismissed the LP candidate’s appeal contesting Sanwo-Olu’s victory in the 2023 governorship election.

Sanwo-Olu was deemed the legitimately elected governor of the state by the election tribunal, and Rhodes-Vivour’s lawsuit was dismissed.

The Labour Party candidate had sought the tribunal to contest Sanwo-Olu’s electoral victory in the March 18 polls, requesting that it be annulled due to ineligibility and corrupt activities.

He also accused the governor of failing to follow the provisions of the Electoral Act of 2022.
