Rivers crisis: 26 Assembly members withdraw notice of impeachment against Fubara

The Rivers State House of Assembly’s 26 members have dropped their impeachment notice against Governor Siminalayi Fubara.
This was stated in the notice of withdrawal read on the floor of the House on Wednesday.
According to them, the decision was made out of respect for President Bola Tinubu, who arranged a reconciliation conference between the warring parties on Monday.
The verdict was read aloud to the 26 MPs loyal to former Governor Nyesom Wike at the House of Assembly Complex on Wednesday morning.
According to Platinum Times, President Tinubu arranged a peace pact between Fubara and his predecessor, Wike, on Monday.
The state’s unrest is said to be the result of a power struggle between the governor and Wike, who is presently the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory.
More to come.
