Security tightens up at Atiku’s residence after suspected Boko Haram attack

Security have tightened up at Atiku Abubakar’s mansion in Yola’s Dougirei neighborhood, the capital of Adamawa State.

According to Platinum Times Nigeria, the police detained four suspects on Sunday who they believed to be Boko Haram members and who were reportedly plotting an attack on the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate’s home.

The neighborhood was tranquil and devoid of any signs of dread when Daily Trust arrived on Tuesday as corner stores opened and locals went about their daily lives.

Sani Umar, a resident of Dougirei, claimed that when his wife received the news, she panicked before a neighbor reassured her that Boko Haram had already been weakened and could no longer conduct assaults even in Maiduguri, much less in Yola.

He claimed that despite reports of gunshots and other potential panic-inducing sounds, locals were unaware of the incident until several hours later.

According to a senior security source, the suspect detained at the apartment exhibited typical Boko Haram behavior.

“He was bold, fearless and hardened during interrogation,” the source said
