Seven killed as fresh gunmen attack hit Bauchi State

Seven people have been reported dead by the Bauchi State Police Command following new attacks by armed suspects in the State.

On Tuesday night, the gunmen allegedly carried out a raid on the villages of Gara and Gamji in the Burra District of the Ningi Local Government Area.

On Wednesday morning, the victims’ bodies were interred.

According to Platinum Times Nigeria, Ningi LGA has recently been more exposed to attacks because of its proximity to the Lame-Burra Forest Reserve, a haven for kidnappers.

The criminals reportedly broke into the area on Tuesday at around 9:00 p.m.

Superintendent Ahmed Wakili, the Command’s spokesman, called the killing “unprovoked and mindless.”

He expressed sympathy to the families of the victims of the tragedy.

“Some bandits attacked the villages of Kada and Gamji in the Burra district of the Ningi LGA, according to a distress call we received. Seven persons were killed as a result of their sporadic shooting and huge number of arrivals, he claimed.

Wakil, however, claimed that the command’s agents engaged the bandits and killed three of them as a result, with assistance from the Nigerian Military.

He continued, saying that others fled into the neighboring bush in disorder, maybe suffering from gunshot wounds.

In a gunfight with the soldiers in Gamji Village, the bandits are allegedly alleged to have killed one volunteer security guard and wounded one soldier.
