Simon Lalong takes oath of office as Senator

Simon Lalong, the former Minister of Labour and Employment, has been sworn in as a Senator for Plateau South.

On Wednesday, Lalong, a former governor of Plateau state, took his oath of office on the Senate floor.

On Tuesday, the former minister presented his resignation to President Bola Tinubu.

Dr Makut Simon Macham, Special Adviser to the Outgoing Minister on Media, acknowledged Lalong’s resignation in a statement.

It was reported that the letter was delivered to Tinubu on December 19, 2023.

Lalong added that the Court of Appeal pronounced him the legitimately elected senator representing Plateau South Senatorial District and asked the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to provide him the Certificate of Return following an exhaustive legal process.

He also expressed gratitude to the president for selecting him as minister.
