Soldiers neutralize bandits in Zamfara, Sokoto States
Attempting to preserve recent victories in the North-West, Operation Hadarin Daji troops in Zamfara State on Friday stepped up clearing operations in bandit strongholds.
In recently coordinated operations, they destroyed bandit camps in the Zamfara and Sokoto states’ Mutuwa, Guda Tudu, Kawar, Dantayawa, Gidan Kare, Mahuta, and Gyado villages.
According to a senior military source who asked to remain anonymous and who spoke to Channels Television during the operations, the troops’ fearsome approach to the bandits’ hideouts scared off the rampaging bandits. Before the army arrived, they left their enclaves.
However, the soldiers captured four of the outlaws’ working motorcycles and swiftly wiped out their brand-new enclave.
Similar to this, troops of Operation Hadarin stationed at Forward Operating Base (FOB) Faru in Zamfara State’s Maradun Local Government Area were informed with reasonable certainty that bandits intended to attack the community of Bagabuzu.
The brave soldiers quickly mobilized, engaged the armed bandits in a gunfight, and prevented them from entering the communities.
Four bandits were killed during the battle, but others managed to flee with gunshot wounds.
One General Purpose Machine Gun (GPMG), one FN Rifle, and 123 rounds of specialized ammunition were found by the forces as they repelled the onslaught.
Major General Godwin Mutkut, the General Officer Commanding 8 Division Sokoto/Commander Joint Task Force Northwest Operation Hadarin Daji, praised the soldiers for their fortitude, valor, and ability to continue the assault on the terrorists.
He urged the populace to assist the military by providing reliable information about the whereabouts of bandits so that preventative steps might be taken to protect people’s lives and property.
