Amako Maraya, the Pastor in Charge of the Second Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA), Damakasuwa, in Kauru Local Government Area of Kaduna State, was assassinated by unidentified assailants.
The gunmen also kidnapped the deceased’s wife.
The shooters stormed the neighborhood around 11 p.m. on Friday, according to a person who is an elder in the Church.
According to an anonymous source, “On Friday night, the gunmen invaded the community and went to the Pastor, gunned him down and abducted his wife to an unknown destination.”
He went on to say that the gunmen tried to kidnap the clergyman’s son around three months ago but were repulsed with the support of the community, and that the Pastor’s son was hurt in the process.
He explained that the gunmen had previously called the family in the morning of Saturday, wanting N3 million in ransom, and that they had not called again since.
He added that there has been community hostility since the incident occurred.
He urged security services and the government to assist in the rescue of the widow, who is currently traumatized.
