Take a stand of your political party – APC forum knocks Wike
The All Progressive Congress (APC) North Central APC Forum has warned the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, against taking any acts or making movements that are detrimental to the party or the North Central region.
Alhaji Saleh Mandung Zazzaga, Chairman of the Forum, revealed this in Jos, the Plateau State capital, following an emergency meeting to analyze and review the election tribunal judgments and how the APC has fared thus far.
He stated that all hands must be on deck to guarantee that the party performs well in court, whether it is a tribunal, an appeal, or the Supreme Court.
According to him,
“Reports reaching us suggest that some appointive office holders like Wike are still playing double games, since he is part of the APC by appointment, while he still remains a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
“We gathered he is still backing the PDP in many of their endeavours and activities, particularly in the post-election cases in the court.
“It is high time Wike comes out clean and takes a stand on the party he really belongs to, otherwise, should his actions run contrary to that of the APC’s interest, they will not hesitate to initiate several actions against him, including legal action.
“As someone who is holding an appointive position of the APC, a Lawyer by profession and someone reputed for doggedly fighting political-legal battles right from Rivers State, he (Wike) should come out strong and be seen to be supporting and strategising for victory for the candidates of the APC in the courts, at least in the North-Central Region, under which the FCT falls,” he said.
Zazzaga also warned Wike against exploiting his position as FCT Minister to plot a presidential run in 2027, as some are doing in some quarters.
He stated that their forum will keep a close eye on him to ensure that his allegiance to the nation, the APC, and President Bola Tinubu is complete first, without participating in any self-interest methods.
The Chairman recommended Wike to exercise caution in FCT demolition, land revocation, and other administrative measures that will have negative consequences, because the North Central will suffer the burden and face the entire weight of any disagreeable incident in the FCT.
He stated that the region is already facing enough issues, including security, and that they do not want to worsen the situation further.
He urged all APC leaders, supporters, and members to back all of their candidates who are pursuing legal post-election disputes in court.
He also asked Nigerians in general to support Tinubu, George Akume, Secretary to the Government of the Federation, all ministers, and those in appointive posts so that they might excel in their responsibilities and deliver the dividends of democracy to the nation.
